Middletown, Connecticut — Since 1898

125 Years of Families Guided, Memorials Made to Last

A century and a quarter of patient, personal craftsmanship — no pressure, no shortcuts, no compromise.

Since 1898

Connecticut families have trusted us for more than 100 years

Fox-Becker Granite Company has served Connecticut families since 1898. Started on the South side of Rapallo Avenue, Middletown, Fox-Becker moved to the North side for better access to the rail line and has stood at 10 Rapallo Avenue ever since — between Main Street and Route 9 in the North End, a landmark for locals and Wesleyan University fine arts students alike. Our 33 feet high on-site derrick has been drawing admiring photographers for generations.

More than a century of families have trusted us to guide them through one of life's most personal decisions. Whether you are choosing a family monument, an individual marker, or a community memorial, the Fox-Becker staff will walk you through every step — at your pace, with no pressure. Call us at 860-346-1681 and we will take it from there.

Fox-Becker's standing as the premier granite memorialist in Middletown was not built on marketing. It was built on quality, personal attention, and showing up for families when it matters most — for over 125 years.

The Philosophy

John B. Sterry, Jr., President of Fox-Becker, built every commission on a single belief:

Qualità Prima Di Tutto

Quality Before All Else

Notable Work

Work that endures

Every family we serve matters equally. Among our most publicly recognized commissions:

Plate II

the former Governor of Connecticut Chester Bowles, and his wife
at River View Cemetery in Essex

Plate III

renowned writer & novelist William Manchester, and his wife
at Indian Hill cemetery

Plate IV

former Governor and Legislator of Connecticut William E. Baldwin
at Indian Hill Cemetery

Plate V

Middlesex Superior Courts dedication signage
in memory of William Baldwin

Plate VI

the Portland Veterans' Memorial

And more recently, the Portland Veterans' Memorial honoring all Portland veterans, dead or alive, for their bravery in the 1st & 2nd World Wars, The Korean, Vietnam & Persian Gulf Wars. The final product now stands on a site at the local Town Hall, symbolizing the year-long labor and dedication put into making this project of almost 1,500 names a reality and permanent reminder.
