These can be as elaborate as a building with stained glass windows and a bronze door (called a walk-in mausoleum), or a smaller and simple crypt — an above-ground structure with no windows or doors where the person is entombed. There is also a smaller version used for cremations, called a columbarium. Your cemetery will have specific approval requirements; we work with them on your behalf.
These lay flush with the ground — typically twenty-four inches by twelve inches, though size can vary by cemetery requirements. A popular choice for cemeteries that maintain a uniform lawn appearance. Simple markers start around $650.
These rise six to twelve inches above the ground, with the back of the stone slightly higher than the front — allowing engraving to be read comfortably while giving the memorial a gentle presence above the lawn. Many families choose a bevel marker when the cemetery permits low-rise stones.
These stand typically eighteen inches above the ground, with the back of the stone straight vertical and the front sloping at about a 45-degree angle — making the inscription easy to read at eye level when standing. A versatile choice that works well in most Connecticut cemeteries.
These are typically a two-piece memorial — an upright tablet set on a base. They can be any shape and carry any carving, etching, or lettering, making them the most personal choice for families who want a distinctive tribute. Family monuments in this style range from $3,000 to $20,000 and above, depending on size and design.
